More Details

Description: Leadership in academic advising requires more than expertise and authority — it demands the ability to connect with others and guide them through challenging situations. This session focuses on Emotional Intelligence (EI), a cornerstone of effective leadership. Advisors will explore the components of EI, including self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills, and learn how these traits enhance their ability to foster trust, strengthen relationships, and resolve conflict constructively. Through interactive activities and reflection, participants will practice techniques for managing their own emotional responses and responding thoughtfully to the emotions of students, colleagues, and supervisors. By the end of the session, advisors will leave with actionable strategies to lead with empathy, clarity, and resilience.
