Advisor Mastery Program (AMP) Workshops
These workshops will focus primarily on advisor skill-building and knowledge-building. Potential topics include:
- Technical/Software/Administrative skills (Excel, TEAMS, ARGOS, reading high school transcripts, etc.)
- Advising approaches and best practices
- Legal/Ethical issues in advising
- Inclusive Excellence
Workshops will be offered twice a month, and will generally be worth 1 point (unless otherwise stated). Workshops will vary in terms of being offered in-person or via zoom.

Balancing full-time work while pursuing a college degree presents unique challenges for students, from managing time and energy to navigating academic expectations and institutional processes. This professional development session will focus on understanding the experiences of students who work full-time and how advisors can better support them in navigating both work and school successfully.
Participants will explore common barriers faced by working students, including scheduling conflicts, financial pressures, burnout, and limited campus engagement. Using real-world scenarios and evidence-based strategies, advisors will learn how to proactively coach students in time management, goal setting, self-advocacy, and resource utilization.
This session will also highlight:
- Strategies for creating flexible, student-centered advising approaches
- Ways to help students plan realistic course loads and academic timelines
- Techniques for supporting work-life-school balance
- Campus resources that can assist working students
