Biography
Everett B. Singleton is an Associate Professor in the Womack Educational Leadership Department in the College of Education at Middle Tennessee State University. Read More »Everett B. Singleton is an Associate Professor in the Womack Educational Leadership Department in the College of Education at Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to joining MTSU, Dr. Singleton served as an Educational Leadership faculty member in the School of Education at Northwest Missouri State University. He also spent nearly two decades working in juvenile justice as a counselor, schoolteacher, and administrator with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
Dr. Singleton holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Arts in Education from Union University, a Master’s degree in Urban Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Ph.D. in Education and Human Resource Studies, specializing in Higher Education Leadership, from Colorado State University.
He teaches graduate courses in educational leadership and mentors master’s and doctoral students pursuing careers in school and higher education leadership.
Dr. Singleton’s research examines the educational experiences of underserved and marginalized student populations, with particular attention to incarcerated youth, the school-to-prison pipeline, trauma, and literacy challenges in vulnerable student populations.
